Metallica will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic “The Black Album” in a massive way. On September 10th, the band is set to reissue a remastered version of the album, including a deluxe box set with a hardcover book, multiple live albums, demos and rarities DVDs and more.
But that’s not all. They will also release a 53-track tribute album, “The Metallica Blacklist,” featuring artists covering the album’s 12 songs. Artists contributing to the project include Miley Cyrus, Elton John, St. Vincent, Phoebe Bridgers, Weezer, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Alessia Cara, Cage the Elephant, Corey Taylor, Mickey Guyton, Chris Stapleton, Darius Rucker, Portugal. The Man, J. Balvin, Dave Gahan and more. The album will be available digitally and streaming on September 10th, and on vinyl and CD October 1st. Check out the track list here.
- And Metallica has just released the first track from that album, a cover of “Nothing Else Matters,” by Miley, featuring Watt, Elton, Yo-Yo Ma, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.
- Profits from the album will go to Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation, as well as a charity of each guest artist’s choice.
